Only a few days left to the big day. So few “sleeps” left. Sometimes we’re asked about things to do when visiting the Emerald Isle. We thought we’d give you a few ideas, apart from our favourite pubs like Doheny & Nesbitt’s, Mulligans in Sandymount and maybe Fish & Chips at Burdocks for some soakage!
CHRISTMAS EVE BUSKING — WHO MIGHT YOU SEE?
Last minute Christmas shopping in Dublin? Well, apart from the presents, there is a twist on Grafton Street. For years, buskers can be found belting out a tune over the hubbub of the crowds. But here’s the twist, some of the buskers are people like Hozier, Bono, Glen Hansard & The Coronas. All in aid of charity.
THE GOAL MILE CHARITY RUN
Fancy getting your Christmas day off to a healthy start? This short run, walk or waddle, is an easy fun event. 36 years young, families and friends have made this a Christmas Day tradition. Check out their site for one near you. www.goalglobal.org
THE WREN, THE WREN, THE KING OF ALL BIRDS
For decades the wren boys and now the Wren girls. A Stephen’s Day tradition, where we Irish, dress-up in straw suits and a whole medley of colours. The idea is to “hunt” a fake wren and then put it onto a pole. The “mummers” will form bands and parade through cities, towns and villages all over Ireland.
FINALLY, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE TEAM AT THE JAMES JOYCE FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND SUPPORT. THE HEART AND SOUL OF THE PUB.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.
